Okay so I know we are way behind in this transition but time is just flying by too fast!! After we settled back in from Christmas, we finally turned Connor's crib into a toddler bed. Here are two videos..the first, Connor was 'helping' Daddy and the second, Connor sees his new bed for the first time. I must say I was a little nervous with the transition..knowing that now he could get out of his bed anytime and I may not know what's going on. Connor truly amazed us though! The first night we explained very firmly that he was to stay in his bed until Mommy or Daddy come get him in the morning. I was fully prepared for several rounds of putting him back in his bed but to our amazement, we laid him down, said goodnight, and within 15 minutes he was fast asleep without ever getting out of the bed!!! We are soooo blessed! Now we are weeks into the transition and he has yet to test the boundaries! Eric and I put him to bed and he stays put until we come in and tell him he can get out in the morning.
He is truly a big boy now..no more baby or toddler left in him. Everytime Connor enters a new stage/phase, I say it is my favorite. I've learned to stop saying that and instead I've realized that I just love every stage and watching him grow into such a wonderful little boy. Each stage has its challenges but the joys far outweigh the difficulties. His imagination is taking off these days (the other day he was playing in my bathtub while I was getting ready..no water in it...and was telling me he was on a pirate ship) and he has definitely entered the stage of 'why'. Everything is why and we find ourselves trying to be patient with his questions and can't help but laugh. He also is very curious as to where things come from...food, clothes, toys, anything and everything. The other day he asked me where his shoes came from and I told him the store. He again said 'why' and I said 'because that's where they sell shoes'. He asked why I bought them for him and I said because I love him and want to take care of him. He got a cute smile on his face and said 'you love me, mommy?' very excited and I said 'of course I do'...he responded with a very sweet 'I love you too!'. Melts my heart every time! Okay, I know I'm rambling but part of this is for you guys and part of this is for me..haha. It's a place I can write these things down so I don't forget. I love looking back and being able to remember these little things. So I will leave you with one more personality development...Connor is learning to be manipulative! Yes, I hate to say it but it is true! The other day I was reprimanding Connor for throwing his toys (something he does when he gets frustrated)..he smiled and responded 'but I love you mommy'. I so had to keep from laughing and said 'I love you too but we do not throw our toys'. To which he again replied 'but I love you mommy' and then after not getting a response from me said 'I'm sorry'. Since that incident, he has said that about a dozen times on other similar situations. I have no idea how he came up with this little phrase and while I know I can't laugh out loud when he does it, I am definitely laughing inside!
God bless,
Becky
