Ten on Tuesday!

Well here it goes..first Ten on Tuesday post!

1. I got to go shopping today..ALL BY MYSELF!! That rarely happens and is so nice because whenever I go with Connor I can't concentrate and end up leaving empty handed! I even got some great deals!

2. I LOVE Summerville's Farmer's Market. I took my mom and sister-in-law Saturday and got a really cute necklace and earring set for $7!! The food is so fresh and the atmosphere is fun too!

3. Connor is at the stage where he really enjoys playing games, so yesterday we played Candy Land, Candy Land Castle, CoCo the Clown, and Hi-Ho Cherrio. Daddy came home just in time to join in too! He also must not have the competitive Weston genes in him from my mom's side of the family because he never really cares who wins.

4. I'm missing 2...that is Connor being 2! The day he turned 3 we have begun to experience a new child and I'm not sure I like this one..haha. He is really testing us a lot and let's just say if I wasn't exhausted at the end of the day before..I DEFINITELY am now!! Everything from getting dressed in the morning, cleaning up, sharing with friends, going to bed..you name it! We have really stuck to our training methods and what we expect from him and I am glad to say that the latter half of yesterday he was truly an angel!! Eric came into our room after putting him down and said ,'who is that child?', because he was so good! Hopefully, this will be a short lived stage!! Anyone else experienced this?

5. Eric had an interview over the phone this morning and it couldn't have gone better. He has an interview at their office Monday and we will see what happens. I'm not sure I'm prepared to move but also interested to see where the Lord is directing us.

6. I have a new WoodWick candle and I'm in love with the scent..haha. Eric keeps laughing at me because I keep talking about it but everytime I walk in the house and am greeted by it..it puts a smile on my face. It's the little things in life..isn't it?

7. I am procrastinating by doing this right now because I don't want to tackle my desk which is currently filled with lots of mail including bills..yuck! I miss the days where I didn't have any responsibilities...haha!

8. Connor is currently whining in his room and can I just say I'm soooooooooooo tired of whining! I thought that was something only girls did but boy was I wrong!! We have told him that if he wants out of his room then he has to call us without whining...I might be waiting a long time listening to this until he finally stops and asks the right way!

9. We are having our pastor's family over for dinner tomorrow night. I love entertaining and cooking for people so I'm super excited that we can finally have them over!

10. I'm trying a new recipe tonight and can't wait to see how it turns out. It's a curried chicken dish and we love curry so I'm hoping it's going to be good!!

A much needed update!

Well life has definitely gotten away from us the past few months! The last two months have been filled with a lot of traveling and thus I have obviously had little time (okay, no time) to post updates. So let me catch you up!

The 2nd week in March we went to Disney World with Connor and my parents. Eric and I had talked about waiting until he was older and could remember it but an opportunity presented itself and we just couldn't refuse! Eric's college roommate and good friend was getting married in Orlando and Eric was a groomsman, so how could we go down and not take Connor to Disney World?! My parents were able to get us military passes and since Connor wasn't 3 yet..he was FREE and they got an amazing deal on the hotel. I'm still shocked at how little we spent! Connor had an absolute blast and still talks about Goofy..he would hug the other characters if we were holding him but Goofy he would run up to all on his own! The biggest highlight was breakfast with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald Duck, and Pluto that we scheduled for him one morning. We had to wake him up at 6:45 to get there and let me tell you...Connor is not a child that likes to be woken up and is a HUGE grump when it happens. We were worried that the money we were about to spend was a big waste because he was truly miserable on the ride over. However, once we got there and the characters started to come out, he lit up like the 4th of July and was the happiest I have ever seen him! I'm in the process of sorting through the 700 pictures I have taken in the last 2 months (no, I'm not kidding) but here are a few.

The following 2 weekends after we got back from Disney were spent in Columbia with my family. My brother, Bob, is deploying for a year with the Army and was able to come home for 2 weeks before the left so we wanted to spent as much time with them as we could. His wife, Stefini, is due with their first child in July and we are excited to finally welcome a cousin for Connor on my side of the family! Please keep them in prayers as my brother will be able to come home for 2 weeks around July/August for the birth of the baby and then will not be home again until next March/April.

And yet again, the following weekend we were back in Columbia for Easter! We debated whether or not to go or stay home but Eric's brother and his family traveled down and because we rarely get to see them, we decided to go! Saturday, Connor got to participate in the Easter Egg Hunt in my parents' neighborhood and then Sunday we had a wonderful time with Eric's family out at his Uncle Mark and Aunt Julie's place in Irmo.

The day after Easter, we traveled straight from Columbia to Tampa, FL!! Eric had to go down on business for the week and because he was driving not flying..it was the perfect opportunity for Connor and I to tag along for free!! It was such a wonderful week for us. Even though Eric had to work, his hours were much fewer than when we are at home and we paid to stay an extra night to have a little mini family vacation of our own. We spent the day at the Tampa Zoo which was incredible. I have to say it is now my favorite zoo that we have ever visited! They let you get so close to the animals and there were so many animals to see. I will say a couple times we questioned just how close they let you get to the animals. A mountain lion attacked his cage trying to get to Connor and after watching how quiet and quick they are, I now completely understand how people who are attacked never knew the lion was even there before it was too late. Connor was pretty freaked out but we made a joke of it and he still tells people about the big cat that tried to jump out of his cage at him..haha. I think Connor's highlight was feeding the giraffes.

And as if the traveling weren't keeping us busy enough...all of our birthdays are in April!! We celebrated mine on the 2nd and my parents took Connor overnight for us so we could celebrate. Well, we ended up painting (yes, I know we are crazy but honestly you can't paint with an almost 3 year old running around). We did enjoy a nice day downtown the next day and Eric took me to my favorite restaurant for their pimiento cheese topped filet...it's soooo incredible!!
Eric's birthday was during our trip to Tampa and we are hoping my parents can take Connor again for us so we can celebrate..he is being very patient..lol. And then there is Connor, his birthday was the 19th and I took cupcakes to school for a little party for him but that was not all! He has been talking about his birthday party for months and all he wanted was a fire truck to come to his party. We had his party this past Saturday at the playground with a few friends and family and I made a special call to the fire department earlier in the week for them to come out. Connor's face was priceless when the fire truck arrived!! He was truly in heaven sitting in the driver's seat. The fire fighters were wonderful and so sweet with the kids...I'm trying to track down which station came so I can bring them some cookies and a thank you note this week! My sister-in-law, Stefini, made his cake as she does every year and did a beautiful job as always. I have not downloaded the pictures off of my camera yet but I will post some soon!

Well, that should bring us up to date! Wish I could have included more details and remembered more cute things. I started this blog so I could keep track of all the little things you forget so quickly and I have to admit I have done a poor job of doing just that, so I'm going to start a few new things weekly on our blog! Here is what I have lined up....Movie Mondays, every Monday I plan on loading one new video of Connor. This will help me not only keep family updated but also to take out my video camera more often and catch those little things as Connor continues to grow! Ten on Tuesday...I am stealing this from a couple other blogs but it's a great idea! I will have 10 random thoughts, updates, etc. Wordless Wednesday...instead of writing I will just be posting pictures of recent outings and activities. Thoughts on Thursday...not sure exactly what this will turn into and what direction I will take so stay tuned to find out! Friday Fun...plan on posting funny stories about Connor and his funny little sayings that he comes up with.
So that is what I have planned...now hopefully I can stick to it! Also, updating the layout of the blog tonight...or at least that's the plan. I'm in bed with a stomach bug today so we will see if that happens or not!

Love,
Becky
